A major problem with addressing the quantum vulnerability is that many people have bad facts and wrong information, and these wrong information echoes around the infosphere + gets repeated by non-domain experts and then becomes broadly accepted as "truth" Case in point:
The actual number of Bitcoin vulnerable is closer to 6M. Just the way its worded should give you pause and ask if they really know what they're talking about. "1-2 million" is a huge range! 1M Bitcoin is $100B!
But the real problem is ego. Many experts out there have not updated their priors on quantum computing & seem unwilling to do so, preferring to dismiss developments there as "hype" or "exaggeration" because it makes them sound smart. But the risk is that attitude creates apathy & complacency. And in the case of blockchains, downright disaster.
