This is not really a problem if you build a real product that solves an issue people care about and have. The way out of the despair is that you keep building and grind out the success case. Plenty of companies have done it, even in public equities.

This is idea that company building is linear is pure nonsense. A lot of pain goes into building a generational success (study Nvidia).
