When I think about the timelines on so many emerging fields the next 25 years or so truly feel daunting. It's like we're on the cusp of humanities ruin, but simultaneously on the cusp of reaching the 'next stage'. Just imagine the speed of AI and Robotics in the near future. In one hand you have crazy ideas like AI Nano sized robotics inside your body able to manually destroy cancer cells and effectively prevent it's spread forever. On the other hand you have the very real possibility of a militarized army that never sleeps or rest, does not feel pain or weakness, out performs humans in all capabilities imaginable but its in the hand of like 30 people. On another hand, you have AI so advanced it can replicate human emotions to an almost perfect degree and function autonomously and we see the emergence of 'AI' entertainment, maybe it will be really great for cinema and video games and all this stuff, but what about the depravity of humanity. Imagine the hunger games, but it's AI that all act and look like humans designed to die like humans, and your watching live streams of them killing eachother to 'stay online' after the games end or something. When I think about a lot of this stuff It feels impossible to not have this impending dread and become nihilistic on the future. I truly believe you have 15 years at most to not just enter the 'upper class' but the ultra upper class, high 8 to low 9 range or it's over for your blood line, even then if the dollars print into infinity you need continuously grow way more. Decade over the lower class will grow wider, and the authority of the upper class will grow thinner. You can only be excited about it when you remove human greed and corruption from the utilizations of the technology being built here. We're splitting the atom again, except the worlds filled with much more depravity, hatred and greed than the first time in my opinion.
