apologies for nerdposting the last 3 years, the big labs and commentariat hyped the imminent arrival of AGI now that it is clear the models didnt progress the way they anticipated, 2026 will be the year of redefining what "AGI" means. aka "we achieved it already. congrats!"
im just seeing a ton of folks hammering this point over and over on podcasts, blogposts etc i think it's a shared tacit agreement between everyone in the sector to keep the momentum going rather than say "well this isn't living up to the sky high expectations we already set"
