Believe or not I, Sandy Petersen, devotee and creator of interactive games, am an introvert. By which I mean interacting with people drains me over time. After 5-6 hours of chatting, running games, and generally being friendly at a convention, I need to go hide in my room for an hour or two before I can return.
When I'm tired or worn out from finishing some task, the LAST thing I want to do is to go out with friends and par-tay. My son is the opposite. As an extrovert, he is energized by spending time with his friends. So we tug in different directions when at conventions. He says, "I've been behind the booth all day. Let's go talk to folks." While I say, "I've been behind the booth all day, I have to take a break.
In my mind, this is the simplicity of the difference between intro- and extro-.
