BREAKING: Jack Smith will publicly testify before Congress next week about Trump's classified documents and January 6th cases — marking the first time that Americans will hear directly from him about the historic probes. The former Special Counsel fears no man... The surprise announcement from the Republican-controlled House Judiciary Committee comes after they had previously denied Smith's request for a public hearing. Their decision to allow it now perhaps speaks to the president's waning influence within his own party as his popularity sinks amidst illegal wars, insane threats to allied nations and a struggling economy. It's also possible that the Republicans on the committee are hoping to smear and attack Smith in such a public setting, but if so they're in for a rude awakening. He's highly intelligent, fearless, and far more credible than any sitting MAGA politician. Smith will eat them alive. Back in December, the former prosecutor sat for a closed door deposition and bluntly stated that he would gladly bring charges against Trump again if given the chance. The facts have not changed for him. “If asked whether to prosecute a former president based on the same facts today, I would do so regardless of whether the president was a Republican or Democrat,” Smith told the panel according to an account obtained by the Hill. “The decision to bring charges against President Trump was mine, but the basis for those charges rests entirely with President Trump and his actions, as alleged in the indictments returned by grand juries in two different districts,” he added. Now, he'll get a chance to say the same thing directly to the American people. The timing could not come at a worse time for Trump as he battles backlash over his Epstein coverup and sees widespread pushback against his murderous ICE operations. Smith brought two case against Trump, one for his efforts to illegally undermine the peaceful transfer of power to Joe Biden, and one for the massive trove of classified documents that he stole and stashed at Mar-a-Lago. If he had not won the presidency again, Smith would not have dropped the charges.
