I genuinely appreciate the data presented here. But I must say that “solving” the genetics of AD using this data is a pretty huge claim.
Did not make sense to me as I read this paper…this data uses a “rare” baseline and ends up pretty much claiming that a huge portion of the population is at risk because of this ONE locus.
So I looked it up, and apparently, some professors have already made press statements calling this implication straight-up “astonishing.”
Worth considering the complexity of the genome; a correlation is not a causation in general, but doubly so when you’re talking about disease at a cell level
