I've been finding this prompt really useful for helping me move a rough idea to clear expression: "Read my draft and identify the core ideas and observations I'm trying to communicate. Then relay those ideas and observations back to me to help me discover what I'm thinking." Most of my writing is really rewriting. I jot down a rough idea, then spend hours reordering sentences and trying different angles to discover what I'm really trying to say. The whole time growing more anxious about hitting publish.
