Humans of the future will be taste makers and capital allocators. That will be the extent of our work. Pure, unadulterated, goal-directed 'hey AI, do this' and it will do it. Basically like a video game. You'll create your own reality in increasingly weird and wild ways. This will start in the digital world, but will eventually expand to the physical world (to the extent regulations allow it). The Amazon of the future is simply a user prompting an AI 'Hey, I need 70 humanoids to build me a castle on this land I own, go do it'. ABS (Amazon Bot Services... fictional name) then deploys the bots for you to do it (read about Project Prometheus, which Jeff Bezos is working on - he's once again 20 years ahead of everyone else). Then when it's done you'll look at it and say 'Hmm, paint a picture of me with a crown on the outside of the walls'. Then they'll do that too. You'll keep iterating until you're happy with what it's done. It'll be so cheap it's basically free. Construction laws, compliance - all that bullshit - is not going to matter because the AIs will have what we will soon call 'verifiable intelligence' - proof that what they have done complies with a spec (constitution / laws / set of rules that we or they define). Perfect builds every time. If they fuck it up it's because the spec was wrong. Of course, the AIs will also be better at coming up with goals for us, and for all functional things, that is exactly what will happen - they'll set the goals then fulfill them too, occasionally checking with us for approval (if we want). But for entertainment, leisure, 'work' of the future... There will be practically no limits. However weird you think things will get, I promise you it's going to be 100x weirder. Immortals living on Mars, genetically modified superhumans living on the ocean floor, entirely new senses... May you live in interesting times.
