The Ecological Society of America (@ESA_org), known for their flagship journal Ecology and other influential journals, has launched a new journal committed to woke pseudoscience and activism called Earth Stewardship. Unlike the other ESA journals, Earth Stewardship will utilize "diverse knowledge systems," "indigenous communities," and "multiple epistemic and practitioner communities from the global north and south" to join the growing trend of journals "committing to societal concerns and interests." In other words, they are blending science, woke pseudoscience, and activism. When I was in academia, getting a paper in an ESA journal—and especially Ecology—was viewed as a major achievement. But with their launch of Earth Stewardship, which vows to couple various left-wing pseudoscientific ideologies with activism, I can no longer take any of their journals seriously.
