Denmark Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on U.S. President Donald Trump's threats to take Greenland: "I have to say this very directly to the U.S.: It makes absolutely no sense to talk about the need for the U.S. to take over Greenland. The USA has no right to annex one of the three countries in the Kingdom of Denmark. The Kingdom of Denmark - and thus Greenland - is part of NATO and is therefore covered by the alliance's security guarantee. We already have a defence agreement between the Kingdom and the U.S., which gives the U.S. wide access to Greenland. And we, on the part of the Kingdom, have invested significantly in security in the Arctic. I would therefore strongly urge the U.S. to stop the threats against a historically close ally, and against another country and people who have very clearly said that they are not for sale."
