There are a lot of Smart Centrists who like to go on all day about how they are very smart and how everyone else is very stupid. This is because the world changed around them and they feel unmoored and don’t like the implications of that change. So they retreat into smugness and self satisfaction. But if they were really that smart they’d have something more interesting to say, they’d understand the world better, and they wouldn’t immediately default to the easiest option with the least resistance possible.
