Literally 4 days ago I wrote a long piece on why I think that projects are mismanaging funds and spending money on things that don't matter and won't attract new users. Spending 100s of millions/billion dollars on buybacks while marketing and new features kept getting neglected. Market reflected that and even with massive buybacks all of these tokens went down. I don't hold $JUP but I think that it was good decision that they stopped burning money on buybacks as it didn't really change anything. What they are doing now is way better in my opinion and I think that we will see more projects pivot from burning money to shipping updates and focusing on marketing. CEXs figured that out long time ago but I think huge pressure to have utility for governance tokens made DEXs completely ignore the fact that $100m dollars can buy you all marketing in the world and you can improve your product a ton so that people would actually want to use it. Been using Jupiter app since memecoin era started and in a single week I have seen more features I wanted shipped out than I did in the past year. I have been DeFi nerd and maxi for 9 years now and anything I can do onchain - I will, even if I have to pay more. I don't like using CEXs because I want to be custodian of my own funds at all times. People who do use them use them because it is easier and more normie friendly. But if Jupiter and others keep shipping new features with normie friendly clean UI, I can see a lot of people switching to trading exclusively on decentralized platforms. I think that switch already started happening and that is the reason why every CEX is pushing its own perp DEX now. I think that 2026 will be a year of innovation and that projects will eventually all pivot to shipping out new stuff and fighting for market share traditional way. They have to, because while "price goes up" is always going to be the best marketing it's not really sustainable for projects that had TGE long time ago. Hopefully we will see more projects pushing QoL updates, and perfecting their mobile apps. Majority of people these days trade exclusively on the phone, myself included. Build something that people want to use and they will. It really is that simple. Retardio.
