We are witnessing the death of cinema in real-time. While in Sydney I caught up with a friend who is a film composer who told me her career is coming to an end due to AI, as she is struggling more and more to find work, she told me of a story of how she did a demo for a feature film and the director took the demo funnelled it through AI software to create a full score for the film based on her demo (she is now going through the legal process with this) She asked for advice on pivoting to the video game industry but the gaming industry is going through its own problems and no doubt, some people will also inevitably do something just as sinister (and probably already have.) We are standing on the edge of the precipice regarding AI. I am not safe myself either from what’s coming. My advice to anyone is to develop a diverse skillset, be a jack of all trades rather than a master of one because AI could make the thing you excel at obsolete. We are all facing this storm together.
