🚨🇺🇸 MINNESOTA FRAUD: $9 BILLION AND COUNTING... CHAMBER CEO STOLE REWARD MONEY FOR MURDERED CHILDREN
U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson's December 18th announcement painted a grim picture: 13 people charged in housing stabilization fraud alone.
More expected.
Thompson's assessment:
"What we see in Minnesota is not a handful of bad actors committing crimes; it's a staggering, industrial-scale fraud."
The numbers are staggering: $18 billion paid out since 2018 across 14 Medicaid programs now under investigation.
Thompson estimates more than half may be tied to fraud.
Charges include suspects who fled the country, purchased cryptocurrency, sent money to Kenya, and paid kickbacks to parents to get children diagnosed with autism to bill for services.
But it gets worse.
Jonathan Weinhagen, former CEO of the Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce, just pleaded guilty to stealing $213,000, including $30,000 in reward money meant to solve the shootings of three Minneapolis children.
In 2021, he stood at a press conference announcing the fund.
He then stole every dollar.
One victim was 6-year-old Aniya Allen, shot while eating a Happy Meal.
No arrests.
Weinhagen created a fake company, a fake owner, and a fake obituary to cover his tracks.
