'Personal life controversy' Jeong Hee-won faces backlash from the food industry… Why has the sales of 'Haeppan' surged?
Recently, the sales of 'Haeppan Rice Plan', a collaboration between Jeong Hee-won, the head of the Slow Aging Research Institute, and CJ CheilJedang, have surged amid a personal life controversy surrounding Jeong.
According to the distribution industry on the 30th, CJ CheilJedang is discounting the 'Haeppan Rice Plan' products featuring Jeong's face and name.
Specifically, the 'Haeppan Rice Plan Lentil Brown Rice (190g)' in a pack of 4 is being sold for 30,196 won on the official site, CJ The Market. This is about a 64% discount from the original price of 83,880 won.
Similarly, a box of 36 'Haeppan Rice Plan Whole Grain Rice (130g)' is being sold for 29,970 won, which is about 833 won per piece. This is cheaper than the 'Haeppan Small Bowl (130g)', which is the cheapest product in the Haeppan line, priced at 1,500 won (original price) and 1,005 won (discounted price).
This large-scale discount sale is interpreted as a move to clear out inventory after CJ CheilJedang decided to change the packaging of the Haeppan Rice Plan featuring Jeong's face and name.
A notice on CJ CheilJedang's Naver brand store stated, 'Currently, more orders than expected have been received, causing delays in shipping and delivery compared to usual.'
