I’m not sure what to make of this current rhetoric where a few $SPX people are extremely adamant that everything outside SPX is a pure grift. It’s confusing because it seems like they’ve strayed from their original vision of being the meme index. The idea was that other memes could be denominated in SPX. They supported an abundant mindset, a PVE mentality. If other coins were pushing the same vision, that memes can be powerful tools for incentivizing and coordinating communities to accomplish great things, that was a good thing. The whole point was that a coin can offer holders so much more than just speculative gain. A lot of the OG Spx holders understood this well which is why they also supported coins like $BITCOIN, $APU, etc But now this new generation is calling other projects grifts just because they’re not SPX. It’s naive to think there will only be one meme coin for the rest of history. This reminds me of Bitcoin maximalists who ignored Ethereum and all the advancements it brought. Same thing with Ethereum maximalists who completely dismissed Solana and everything that ecosystem accomplished. Coins that have been around for a while, that are trying to do things the right way, that are pushing the same vision others in this space believe should be supported. A rising tide lifts all ships. Maybe it’s just market sentiment. People are down on their bags and angry. But calling everything a scam when there are actual grifts out there is just lazy. I hope they look deeper into what these coins actually symbolize. Different cultures resonate with different people. There can be more than one great culture, which means there can be more than one great coin. Market cap doesn’t matter. What matters is: Have they been around for a while? Have they survived drawdowns? Is the community still passionate and active? Do people actually believe in something? Are they building something tangible? Does holding the coin actually benefit and elevate the lives of the people in it? Those are the questions that matter. And there are other coins besides SPX that fit that description. People need to switch to an abundance mindset and support each other, especially in times like this. The only way we win is by winning together.
