The surfing community of of Bondi Beach has held a “paddle out” memorial ceremony to the victims of the Bondi Beach Massacre. Paddle outs are part of surfing culture and originated in Hawaii before spreading to places like California and Australia. Surfers, swimmers, paddleboarders, and community members paddle out into the ocean on their boards, form a large circle in the water, hold hands or link arms, and observe moments of silence, share stories, splash water in celebration, or scatter flowers/ashes to honor the deceased. 🇦🇺🇮🇱
