I’ve spent a lot of time studying Hollywood and concluded that it’s screwed without AI.
Movies have become so expensive to produce for a number of reasons (e.g. inflations, unions / guilds, marketing).
You need a huge hit to pay back the cost - hence the endless Avenger movies.

James Cameron opens up about how he's exploring launching an AI company to create tools to help VFX artists become more efficient, and lower the cost of moviemaking without costing jobs: “People are not creating tools to help us in the VFX realm, they’re making them for the average person. So I'm going to roll up my sleeves.”

I’ve pulled a bunch of data on this (cost and # of movies over time) - can share if folks are interested!
TL;DR - we need a big structural change reducing costs to make the movie business profitable + enable indie films.
IMO, using AI in production is the clearest shot here.
