Theoretical Transaction Per Second (TPS) is the maximum throughput under ideal conditions, assuming simple transactions with no bottlenecks. How to calculate theoretical TPS using BSC as an example: 1️⃣ Identify block gas limit BSC processes roughly 100M gas per block. 2️⃣ Estimate gas per transaction A simple transfer consumes about 21,000 gas. 3️⃣ Calculate transactions per block 100,000,000 ÷ 21,000 ≈ 4,760 transactions per block 4️⃣ Account for block time With an average block time of ~0.75 seconds, theoretical TPS is 4,760 ÷ 0.75 ≈ ~6,300 TPS And this gives BSC a theoretical TPS of 6,300.
