my favorite part of the new polkadot website is the mention of the Whole Earth Catalog this was meant to give normal people access to tools to survive in a world where community is first, individuals have agency, and every person had the power in their own hands to build something for themselves or create new things for the people they care about having that personal power is increasingly important in the digital age and we have lost agency with the reliance on large platforms who do not have our best interests at heart if we are able to give that power back to people and communities we can subvert the power structures that are in place over the entire world we do not have to be beholden to anyone except ourselves and we need to have the power to create our own subcultures again - they are a driver of the best ideas and and are an incubator for large scale societal change you do not have to stand on the sidelines and accept the world that we have, but help create a better one
