1/ “‘I like to use this term, the "translated gesture", to talk about it. It's about the freedom of, say the gestural painters, Cy Twombly, Joan Mitchell... I think it's interesting what happens when you start from a human place and you end up in an algorithmic place.” - Tyler Hobbs
We’re excited to announce we've acquired "From Noise #3" by @tylerxhobbs for our collection.

2/ We were immediately drawn to this series for how it plays with control and unpredictability. The works are built from dense, structured systems, but small shifts in noise and texture create real variation from piece to piece.

3/ Hobbs has long engaged with 20th-century abstraction. Earlier works, from his Fidenzas to QQL, reflect the systematic and disciplined control of artists like Agnes Martin and Frank Stella. With "From Noise", he turns toward abstraction’s more expressive lineage.

4/ During Hobbs’ presentation at the @LACMA Digital Art conference during @ArtBasel Miami, he noted that even Abstract Expressionism (often framed as pure chance) relies on method. Pollock knew the weight of paint, the arc of the arm, the consequence of movement.
"From Noise" carries this insight forward: this work captures a pivotal moment where art history and reference is actively transformed through computation.
