Men produce much of the surplus that is necessary to support the uniquely long energy costly childhood that humans have. In many other animal species there is a real argument that males are not contributors. Not in humans though.

Of course there is also technological innovation, which is a complete game changer, especially after the industrial revolution. My post is saying: even looking at humans in the stone age, the accusation is not true.
