Notre Dame after 5 years of restoration The medieval Catholic cathedral welcomed visitors again on 7 December 2024, following the 2019 fire that devastated its spire, roof, and interior.

The construction of the cathedral began in 1163 under Bishop Maurice de Sully and was largely completed by 1260. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary ("Our Lady"), it is considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture.
