THREAD 1/5 - Liquidity Is Power: Why Salability Beats Scarcity Alone (I had fun writing a ten part series of threads on @OREsupply recently. So, I have decided to write 5 more on ORE topics I haven’t covered yet)
/12 People think store of value means scarcity. Fixed cap. Hard supply. “Digital gold.” That’s only half the story. And the less important half.
/12 A store of value is a belief system. Belief survives when an asset can be reliably exchanged in the future. That property has a name: liquidity. Not hype. Not narratives. Salability.
/12 Gold was valuable not just because it was scarce. But because you could trade it anywhere without permission. The moment banks issued gold IOUs, trade accelerated… and sovereignty quietly disappeared.
/12 Scarcity without salability produces hoards. Salability without sovereignty produces cages. The dollar dominates today not because it’s morally sound, but because it is frictionlessly accepted everywhere. Liquidity is power.
/12 This is where most Bitcoin maxis go wrong. They optimize for scarcity theater while ignoring settlement friction. Seven transactions per second turns money into an artifact, not an instrument.
/12 When native settlement is slow, intermediaries appear. IOUs replace ownership. Ledgers replace possession. It happened to gold. It happened to Bitcoin. It will happen to anything that can’t move at global scale.
/12 IOUs are liquid: but only inside permissioned walls. Your balance moves instantly. Your rights do not. The asset becomes powerful by being not used. The system becomes powerful by being used instead.
/12 True monetary liquidity is native. Self-custodied. Final. Fast enough to compete with centralized alternatives. Anything else is a debt instrument wearing a freedom costume.
/12 This is the real challenge for non-sovereign money: not maximum supply, but minimum friction. Money that can’t move freely eventually stops being money.
/12 ORE is built around this inversion: salability first, scarcity enforced second. Performance isn’t a feature. It’s a prerequisite for belief to survive.
/12 Belief systems collapse when users adapt around them. They strengthen when systems adapt to users. Liquidity is how belief renews itself.
/12 Scarcity makes something rare. Liquidity makes it survive stress. Only one of those creates money. How can you join the movement? Buy ORE. Mine ORE. Covet ORE.
