According to BlockBeats news, on December 9th, Jack Zhang, founder and CEO of payment startup Airwallex, posted, "In 2018, Stripe proposed to acquire us for $1.2 billion, when our revenue was only $2 million. Stripe is valued at 600 times revenue, and I could have personally earned over $2 billion based on the latest Stripe stock price. But the team refused. Today, we have raised US$330 million, valued at US$8 billion, and generated $1 billion in annual recurring revenue (ARR)."
As previously reported, Airwallex raised $330 million in its latest funding round, bringing its valuation to $8 billion. According to a statement released on Monday, this valuation is about a 30% increase from the previous funding round six months ago. The round was led by Addition, with participation from institutions such as Activant, Lingotto, and TIAA Ventures.
