i hate being copied and i think there are ways to engage with the ideas of other artists without breaking the social contract, chiefly: 1) transformative work 2) that isn’t passed off as an original idea 3) and that has been run by the other artist as a courtesy where possible

there’s a lot of nuance here though, and it’s a lot harder to judge an enterprising up-and-coming artist trying to make things work than someone already more commercially successful than yourself
