🚨 BREAKING BLOBSPACE NEWS 🚨 Now that Fusaka is live, we're noticing something interesting with blob transactions as we test our updated BlobKit. Here's what we're seeing: Quick reminders: - Blobs = chunks of temporary data (~18 day lifespan) - Blobspace = the area in each Ethereum block where blobs get stored Pre-Fusaka: Blob fee floor was basically zero (~1 wei). You paid almost nothing, your blob got included, done. Post-Fusaka: EIP-7918 raised the blob fee floor to ~0.01 gwei. Still cheap in dollar terms, but 10,000,000x higher than before. Every ~12 seconds, Ethereum produces a new block. Each block has limited blobspace. Validators decide which transactions make it in and they prioritize by fee. Whoever pays more gets in first. We're seeing blob transactions sitting in the mempool, not getting included block after block. Blob transactions aren't being rejected - they're just not getting included. Is this just fee prioritization, or is there builder censorship happening with blob transactions? We're researching this now, and encourage others to do the same.
