Mearsheimer explains how this pressure shaped U.S.-Israel policy debates for years. The backlash back in 2006, he said, made it “easy for people to slander us” because few understood the lobby’s power at the time. Now, he says, “it’s hard to deny” that the lobby goes to great lengths to shape U.S. foreign policy.
