Finally back home.
The last couple of weeks were insane, traveling around the world, playing/casting card games, meeting amazing people, it’s something I’ll forever be grateful I get to do.
@YGGPlaySummit was incredible.
It honestly felt like it was over in a blink. Being involved in all the different card games, both competing and casting, was such a blast.
We started with the @MightMagicFates tournament, the latest TCG I picked up. Had just a few days to prep with @tyler_YGG & @HS_Seiko , but we enjoyed it a lot. Came up with a pretty sick deck too, and then Tyler beat me in the mirror… and ended up winning the whole thing. Will definitely keep an eye on Fates moving forward.
Then it was time for my undeniable favorite @ParallelTCG!
Sixteen of the best players flew to Manila to compete for $100.000, which is crazy. Parallel has a huge scene in the Philippines and such a passionate community, seeing everyone again felt like a family reunion. Last year’s YPS was the first time I met the Parallel fam in person, and coming back this year felt just as special.
I got to cast this time around (the new kids are getting too good for me lol), and I loved it. Casting with @mookah_f , @LambySeriesGG and Tyler reminded me how good it feels to talk about a game you’ve put so much time into with people who are just as invested. Also got to catch up with the goat @ParallelTCGpod , one of my favorite people in this space.
The event had the perfect mix of family reunion and super high-level competition.
Congrats to @viper_9337 for winning it, his run this year has been unreal.
Another highlight was talking with Mookah and @andrewveen about their plans for Parallel. Hearing their passion firsthand and all the upcoming stuff (draft mode, alpha redesign, new UI/UX…) is super reassuring. You need competent, passionate people leading the way, and Parallel has that. The game has been improving a lot lately, and the future looks really exciting.
Then there was @vibes_tcg 🐧
I played the Rome tournament the week before, but sadly couldn’t compete in the Manila one. Still, the event was amazing. A bunch of people I helped practice ended up playing, Seiko got Top 16 and @Disiboii got Top 32, so that felt great.
I also got to cast the semis and finals of the $20,000 tournament with @ocg_elliot , who’s the lead designer. First time watching truly high-level Vibes games and it was a treat. Excited for Worlds and for everything Vibes has planned for next year. Looking forward to competing more, and maybe even casting more, it was genuinely fun.
But the biggest highlight, the thing that always makes these events special, is the people.
Meeting so many new & familiar faces from the space and getting to actually talk with them is always my highlight. Everyone from @YieldGuild and especially my brothers from @YggEsports. I’m super grateful to be part of this group and build something meaningful with them. Huge shoutout to @gabusch for being the glue and putting together such a crazy event. People underestimate how important it is to bring a community together like this. It inspires everyone.
Another huge highlight was meeting the @WolvesDAO crew. Such a real, unique group of people. They’re the best example of a Naval quote I love “Escape competition through authenticity.”
I think about this every time I hang out with them. Just pure character and realness. There’s only one @iceyyy_gaming . One @SamSteffanina . One @uhhdub … etc. No one can compete with who they are. I truly admire that a lot....
