Drawings for a Monument I’m very excited to finally share this project with everyone. It’s been a labor of love over the last several months. A thread with some thoughts 🧵
The project began with a question: what would a singular minimalist monument to Art Blocks look like? So I created a generative system that continuously draws new ideas toward that monument.
Each drawing pays tribute to one of the projects in the Curated collection, distilling its color identity and testing it against a linear framework. The algorithm also replicates how I work by hand using pencils and rulers and methodically mixing colors from a core set of paints.
This has turned into a deeply personal project for me. I've been working through each Curated project to better understand it from a technical perspective. But at the same time, I’ve been reliving my last 5 years working at Art Blocks in support of so many great artists.
Drawings for a Monument has turned into a love letter to Art Blocks, its artists, and this amazing community of supporters. I can’t wait to share it with everyone on Monday!
