Aluffi's Algebra: Notes from the Underground is absolutely goated. I struggled with his previous book, Chapter 0 because I went into without enough prerequisites and it was too early, so went back, solidifed the prerequisites (~ give or take) and decided to go with Notes From The Underground. Aluffi immediately felt very personable and I really liked the modern, categorical approach he took. I actually discovered Chapter 0 because of the few-months-long category theory arc I had last year where I discovered Milewski etc Notes From the Underground was apparently meant to introduce undergrads to Abstract Algebra, so I hoped it'd be more palatable for me with my sharpened "skills" and some more "math maturity". So far, so good, it is a lot of fun. It has a ton of exercises, great appendixes with solutions, it is still taking a categorical lens at things, etc
