The culture series by Iain banks is an important read. It describes a hopeful vision of a post-scarcity future. Humanity is currently trapped in a narrow band of possibilities, grappling with power structures and local games. The acceleration of intelligence will lead to modalities of thought that we cannot perceive and conceive of today, in the same way bacteria in a human's body is out of the perception range of the conscious brain.
