"zooko should've made zcash a bitcoin L2" you cannot build a permissionless zerocash l2 without 1) a soft fork or 2) massive legal risks even with new bridge designs, there's concerns around bridge operators unilaterally censoring users in private network might be able to do it with the 1-of-N permissioned assumption, but still risks are still present. especially when most teams are optimizing for fully transparent, surveillance networks who's going to bite the bullet and do the permissionless privacy thing? imo, the founders reward was a mistake but claiming "zooko should've made it an L2" is silly
