After watching the interview with Duan Yongping on Xueqiu, what impressed me the most was the visualization of the "20 investment opportunity questions."
His own definition is quite strict: casually buying a little and selling it doesn't count, a position of 5% doesn't count either; only opportunities with significant positions count.
In this context, over the past 30 years, out of 20 opportunities, only about 10 have been used, and the most frequently mentioned are just 3.
When filtering by opportunity cost, if you participate with 10% of your principal, then in the U.S. stock market, you shouldn't look at opportunities that don't have a certainty of exceeding an annualized 20% (like dollar-cost averaging into the S&P or Nasdaq), and in crypto, you shouldn't look at opportunities that don't exceed an annualized 50% (like dollar-cost averaging into Bitcoin).
Of course, if you can speculate with a small amount to gain a lot, or if you can acquire chips at a low cost or have a way to generate continuous cash flow, those are still worth pursuing.
Most opportunities that don't rely on either side should be discarded. 🤔
