About 15 years ago I bought a farm (instead of Bitcoin). I invested pretty heavily. Pivoted from beef to dairy. Was totally inexperienced. Got robbed blind. My wife forced me to capitulate and just rent it out. Am pleased to report it’s doing fine now. Stick with what you know.💡
Moral of the story is to not complicate your life. Do things that require low lift. I was right about the rising value of farm land. Right about rising price of animal commodities. But went about this in the wrong way. It will be decades before I get a return on that investment.
Although sometimes you can’t put a monetary value on petting a nice cow. And the nice farmers that rent it let me visit whenever I want. I think they think I’m insane. It’s so much hard work for them and not a glorious lifestyle like people think. Also not scalable w/o more land.
@ShaneCultra Despite being a carnivore. Like I eat steak daily. Part of me never wanted to be in the business of raising animals for slaughter. Which makes me unsuitable for the business. Cause yes it was a bad financial decision. Plus the beef payback cycle is long and volatile pricing.
@ShaneCultra Dairy at least you’d get paid daily and the prices were pretty stable. But it was hand to mouth. And bags of feed were the big input cost and these would mysteriously disappear frequently. Definitely nothing you can contract out. I learned that.😂
