Andrew Ross Sorkin on interviewing Elon Musk: "I wanted to show the true Elon. When he was cursing about the advertisers, some people were very upset with him — they couldn’t believe what he was saying. I didn’t feel that way at all. I had known him for a long time, and it felt like it was coming from a tough place. I like to think that I'm empathetic. I’m always trying to put myself in other people’s shoes. It’s my job, in the moment, to meet him where he is. I had found this quote where he said his mind is like a storm. Look, we’re all human, and I think the news business, across the board, oftentimes everybody feels like a character — they feel like it’s black or it's white.... everything’s gray. Everybody's got their own demons. Everybody has got their own things going on inside. If people could just see the other person as a person, and not some big, powerful entity."
