🚨🇺🇸 NORTH CAROLINA POLICE OFFICER KILLED INSIDE HOSPITAL ER A tragedy inside what’s supposed to be one of the safest places in town. Officer Roger Smith, a campus police officer at WakeMed Health & Hospitals, was shot and killed inside the emergency room of the WakeMed Garner Healthplex near Raleigh on Saturday morning after what officials described as a “struggle.” The hospital confirmed the killing in a statement: “Our thoughts and prayers are now with the Smith family… We give an enormous amount of gratitude to the emergency department staff for their heroic and quick response.” No suspect has been named, and police haven’t said whether anyone’s in custody. The ER lobby remains locked down as investigators swarm the scene. WakeMed’s leadership is working with state and local authorities, but so far, the motive - and how a shooting could even happen inside a hospital - remains unclear. Source: NBC News
