In the last 50 years, trains have doubled their top speeds from 200 km/h to 400. In the same time, commercial airplanes have gone down from from 2,000 to 800. All because some lawmakers decided to ban supersonic flights because they were noisy instead of banning noisy fights.

If there were right incentives, we would've had less noisy supersonic flights by now. It worries me everyday that some stupid regulations might curb a lot of technical innovation.
