Last night, @CloudflareDev hosted an x402 meetup at their headquarters in San Francisco. Over 150 people showed up to learn more about agentic payments, and watch demos from leaders at @freepik, @crossmint. @browserbase, @vercel, and @merit_systems, and @coinbasedev.
The night kicked off with @heythereimcam who gave an overview of @Cloudflare pay-per-crawl, which is processing billions of 402s per day, using Web Bot Auth.
Next, @rohinlohe from @CloudflareDev led a demo of the Cloudflare x402 plaground, demonstrating composable tool calling that is made possible through the protocol implementation.
I followed up with a general introduction to @CoinbaseDev and x402 – leading a demo of 'Payments MCP,' which brings a wallet to @claudeai to enable dynamic tool call and discovery.
Next up, @ethanniser from @verce presented a transport-agnostic schema for x402, and shared his thoughts around building x402-mcp.
Ale Palma from @Freepik showcased how x402 can power dynamic, AI-generated advertising. His demo used the Freepik x402 API with a @streamlit frontend to instantly generate a targeted ad customized to the user’s desired location He spoke about how, with x402, users could easily chain in additional context like weather APIs, local events, or browsing intent to enable fully personalized creative assets on the fly.
Nick Wang (@nickwangg) from the @crossmint team demoed a pay-per-reservation x402 driven RSVP flow, where an AI agent can discover an event, verify availability, and autonomously pay to reserve a spot on the user’s behalf.
Jason (@jsonhedman) from @merit_systems showed Composer, their agent interface that lets developers chain paid tools together into autonomous workflows. A great look at how visibility + orchestration unlock real agentic commerce.
Finally, Peyton Casper (@peytoncasper) from @browserbase showcased autonomous browser session spin-ups, where an agent can launch a fresh browser, navigate a site, take screenshots, and debug issues automatically. A compelling glimpse at how x402-enabled browsing agents can enable context-driven problem solving by grabbing live context from the web.
We closed out the night with a Q&A led by the x402 spec author and maintainer, @programmer - diving deep on protocol design, roadmap, and future extensions.
Huge thanks to everyone who came out, shared ideas, and pushed the ecosystem forward. A really special night for agentic payments! x402 everything!
