Tried to install @dhh's Omarchy on an old Thinkpad. Problems I ran into:
1. Secure boot / other-OS "protection" was enabled, needed to be turned off in BIOS to be even able to boot from USB. This was expected.
2. During install I got a few "missing hardware" error messages or something, not sure, went by fast, but the installation completed successfully in 7 minutes.
3. I was then told to remove USB and reboot, but it kicked me into chroot mode instead of rebooting, with no user@machine, just [empty]/[empty] chroot jail. `sudo reboot` doesn't work from chroot, so I had to `exit` to leave chroot mode.
4. Then it showed root@machine briefly as a new terminal session before nuking the screen and showing a cursor blinking in the corner, presumably starting to reboot.
5. After a while, the message [FAILED] Failed to start cleanup of Temporary Directories showed on screen, failing to progress further. I then triggered a manual reboot with CTRL ALT DEL which triggered a cascade of errors, culminating in a dump of "Failed to read block" messages being spammed on screen ad infinitum. This required a power cycle as CAD failed.
6. Upon rebooting, I was greeted with the Omarchy login screen. Punching in the password I set during setup, I successfully entered the OS, connected to WiFi, and updated the system (very pretty update process).
7. After downloading the OS update, it asked me reboot to apply the kernel update, but as I pressed Yes to update, everything froze again. The update did not happen even after a few minutes, so I was forced to power cycle again.
8. Fingerprint sensor can't be activated, seems like driver package for the Thinkpad sensor is missing, so that didn't work for now.
Bottom line, could be smoother with self-debugging or attempting to break itself out of failed state, and I would love to see a full post-install report of what all broke during installation, or what was troublesome, so I know if I should expect trouble later on, but it seems to work fine now and I'm happy to give it a whirl - already learning the shortcuts!
