Surprised no one has attempted a Mahabharat movie yet, it’s a goldmine of timeless sagas. True, it’s a vast epic requiring immense craft and a huge budget, but even one narrative arc could stand on its own. Begin with a film solely on Gangaputra Bhishma: show Ganga’s curse, her abandoning Bhishma in the river, and his rescue by Shantanu. Then Ganga naming him Devavrata, taking him across the lokas for training, and his eventual return to Shantanu’s court. Follow his meteoric rise, mastering every weapon, defeating kings, and then the fateful moment he takes the Bheeshma Pratigya. Show him leading armies, shaping princes, and witnessing the Hastinapur kingdom decay from within, torn between his oath and his conscience. Then portray his confrontation with Shikhandi, his fall upon the bed of arrows, and his final moments, sun paused in the sky, Bhishma suspended between life and death, delivering his last lessons on dharma before finally releasing his breath. A movie on Gangaputra alone has the potential to break records if executed well. And there’s no better time than now.
