This is just about the best thing I ever read. James really gets it. Israel is so full of life, and the habits and priorities of its citizens very much reflect that everywhere you go. For people steeped in the DARVO’d narrative, seeing Israel viscerally is shocking because it’s literally the inverse of how it’s being portrayed.

I wish @joerogan could have the trip to Israel I had.
I wish he could walk through Yad Vashem and ask all the questions he wants and then come outside and see what I saw, that Am Yisrael Chai.
That he could see the trees there for the Righteous Among the Nations and hear the stories. See the lights in the children's memorial.
To walk from there to Mt. Herzl and see the rows and rows of plots and stones and on the way out have someone tell him what all those amazing little stickers on every lightpost and park bench are about, and read a couple dozen of them to him.
Then to drive south and see the memorial to the watchers at Gaza, the kibbutzim, and the Nova Festival site in the company of a hero of October 7, and be left with nothing to say to him after his story but that one amazing thing: Am Yisrael Chai.
Then to drive north and see the situation with Syria and Lebanon, then south again through Judea and Samaria (the so-called "West Bank").
Then to come back to life, to Chaim, in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, and just to, you know, get it.
Of course, I'm sure it could be arranged. He could even go float in the Dead Sea like the old people. I didn't have time. But next time, maybe.
Anyway, I wish he could go and see. Once you see, you know.

This is really the meat of it all. So good, this episode.
Happy New Year, James!
Do your thing, man — it turns out that relentless speaking of truth, regardless of the risks, pays off. Courage is contagious, but so is love of truth.
I’m blessed to know you, and I’m guessing a lot of other people feel the same way.

“Once again, enter the Apostle Paul. Continuing in Romans 11 he provides a word picture of the olive tree to reveal God’s own views on the relationship of Israel and the church. In scripture, the olive tree represents Israel herself. Building on this imagery, God gives a clear and strong word to the church—‘If some of the branches were broken off and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree do not be arrogant about the branches. If you are, remember IT IS NOT YOU WHO SUPPORT THE ROOT BUT THE ROOT THAT SUPPORTS YOU’” (Romans 11:17-18)

Merry Christmas! May God’s light sine bright.
Enjoy the wonder of these olive trees from the Garden of Gethsemane, some of which are over 2000 years old.
