Some thoughts on ApeChain and the current state of this ecosystem 👇
1) Otherside is finally showing signs of life.
Team is steadily shipping new features.
Nexus is gorgeous.
It's clear Otherside is the primary focus.
We’re still ways out from meaningful onboarding. If you’re building in this ecosystem, make sure you have 2–3 years of runway. Don’t go all in expecting onboarding beyond the bubble anytime soon.
These worlds are extremely complex and take years to reach a point where the product is sticky enough for scaled acquisition to make sense.
Temper expectations and plan for the long game.
2) Should we shut down ApeChain?
ApeChain recently increased gas (gwei) by a factor of 4x.
You don't make this type of move unless tightening financial screws.
So it's fair to ask: Is it too early to call ApeChain a failed experiment and wind it down?
ApeCoin already lives on most major chains, so Otherside can accept APE without the cost and operational burden of running an entire L3.
If Base is already 4x cheaper and has all the financial rails users need, what exactly is the strategic advantage of ApeChain? Why would any builder, including Yuga, actually use it?
Maybe the cleaner path is:
- Focus on ApeCoin.
- Remove unnecessary infra.
- Cut the cruft.
Honestly, most ApeChain builders would probably feel relief not frustration. I personally campaigned hard to make ApeChain happen but at some point you have to call a spade a spade.
Not everything needs its own chain.
3) Prices across the Yuga ecosystem remain vulnerable until we see sustained product adoption.
If Otherside is the big onboarding event, and this is still years out, then in the meantime prices likely go lower.
I’m personally holding everything. But if you’re in a financial bind and you can’t wait multiple years, then take risk off the table right now.
This is the market we're in and do what you have to do.
Not trying to FUD or tell anyone what to do. I just want to see this ecosystem survive multiple cycles and I genuinely believe the ideas above make sense
