The California Paradox: The state with the boldest vision for the future can’t seem to build it. The problem isn’t ambition or will, it’s delivery. We need to move faster.

Electricity prices have increased more than 2x the overall cost of living in the last year. Meeting this demand with more natural gas or coal will drive prices up even higher. Mandating coal plants stay open past their closure dates will make it even more expensive. Deploying renewables will bring prices down. Simple as that.

Since WWII, homeownership has been the backbone of the American dream. Not just a roof over your head, but a way to build intergenerational wealth. It’s a lynchpin of our social contract. Affordability isn’t about subsistence, or divvying up a housing stock we built decades ago; it’s about building big so that everyone can accrue equity in America’s economic growth.

The alarm bells for stagflation are blaring. With slowing growth, rising inflation, and job creation nearing a stall, it's clear that policies like unstable tariffs and manufactured uncertainty are taking their toll. But unlike the the 1970s oil crisis, this damage is almost entirely self-inflicted. Instead of trying to tariff a nostalgic dream into existence, we should be investing in the future.

Global EV sales are up 27% in 2025. It’s just called capitalism. Markets reward what’s cheaper, faster, and better. Electrification will continue irrespective of any one nation’s policies.

Stop playing. We've always known who will pay for tariffs. Tariffs are a regressive tax levied on American businesses and passed off onto American consumers. This isn't Econ 101, it's Econ 1.

Cheaper. Faster. Better. The transition is ongoing and unstoppable.

The environmental movement has done an amazing job in bringing awareness to America and the World about the need to protect our natural commons. In terms of the energy transition, now is a time for a determined focus on innovation, execution, and deployment. But the critical function of the environmental movement to analyze, explicate, and advocate for the Natural World has never been more crucial.
