At Offchain, we consistently set out to tackle and solve the most challenging and complex problems facing our industry. Through our contributions to @arbitrum we have helped define scalability. With the work my colleagues have done for @prylabs we have established best in class consensus client work. Our partner and venture studio, Tandem, furthers this mission in support of founders and builders that we are fortunate enough to partner with. Bringing @zerodev_app into the family is a major component of another challenge we want to solve - user experiences. @decentrek and the team he amassed are some of the foremost experts in this area, and it is going to see all of the amazing work that they will be able to do alongside the rest of our team. Very excited to announce that @OffchainLabs has just acquired @zerodev_app. Working with @decentrek and his team over the past couple of months has been incredible, and now allows Offchain Labs to evolve from a chain level infrastructure provider to a full stack development platform with the addition of ZeroDev's smart account technology. Our goal of solving crypto's hardest problems began back in 2017 with L2 scaling, extended into L1 development with the addition of @prylabs in 2022, and has quickly evolved to building out a team that is capable of tackling complex challenges anywhere in the stack. While there are many good solutions focusing on "solving interop," the truth is that without chain abstraction and a unified approach to onboarding end users, the experience will always feel subpar. We're dedicated to creating the best-in-class development experience for anyone looking to build onchain whether you want neutral public block space (Arbitrum One) or opinionated block space (Arbitrum Orbit).

A baby and an acquisition. It's been a whirlwind of a year. I have a lot of reflections to share, but for now, I just want to say thank you to all the users, team members, partners, and investors of ZeroDev ❤️ Together we have pushed and will continue to push Web3 UX forward.

Embedded wallets like Privy will spearhead the adoption of 7702 (and therefore smart accounts). Here's why: When you use 7702 through a standalone wallet like MetaMask, the wallet has sole control over the smart account -- the dapp has no control whatsoever. This is because a wallet like MetaMask is *shared* across dapps, so if the dapp was allowed to set the smart account, a single malicious dapp could easily steal all assets from the wallet. However, embedded wallets are different. By definition, an embedded wallet is a DApp-specific wallet. As such, dapps using embedded wallets will be able to fully customize the smart account to their needs. So if a dapp wants to enable a totally gasless experience, or a 1-click trading experience with no signing prompts, or a fully chain-abstracted experience with no bridging, or all of the above -- the dapp is free to do so with an embedded wallet. The dapp can customize its smart account with no constraints whatsoever. Thanks to the most advanced modular smart account (Kernel) and a wide ecosystem of plugins including chain abstraction, ZeroDev is the perfect 7702 companion for embedded wallets like @privy_io, @dynamic_xyz, and @turnkeyhq. Using ZeroDev, dapp developers can build a customized smart account on top of their embedded wallets, offering a tailored transaction experience for their users.
