I like Calley and I think we want the same things but my main difference is the idea that companies should be celebrated for admittedly minuscule changes in fundamentally destructive food
I also think it’s grotesque for the Secretary of HEALTH to go and dine at a fast food chain using MAHA as an advertising campaign to dupe people into thinking it is remotely healthy
There needs to be a whole lot more changes to our food system before the US government starts celebrating them via official channels

Bad take @esaagar - As an objective statement of fact, the past six months have seen the most significant reforms of our food system in modern history:
(1) Reform of FDA GRAS process to perform pre and post-market review of food chemicals (starting with phase out of artificial dyes, which is harmful) --> for decades, this has been considered a foundational food system reform that hasn't gotten done until now. Companies should be celebrated for incremental wins that nobody thought were possible a year ago.
(2) States removing soda and candy from SNAP - this is a $120 billion program, where soda is top item. This steers tens of billions of dollars per year to healthier food for lower-income Americans.
(3) Revised Dietary Guidelines - coming this year. The current DGAs vilify beef and promote added sugar for 2-year-olds. This will change and result in significant impacts to government procurement (schools and military) and culture.
(4) Mass cultural and societal awakening about the link between food and health / awareness of what we are eating - this is potentially the most important accomplishment. Americans are changing their habits and thinking about their food more every day. This is impacting markets and will show result in lower chronic disease rates.
If you have any constructive ideas, would love to hear them!

MAHA is now the greatest thing that has ever happened to big food. They can announce superficial changes to their poisonous food (in 2 years! lol) and get a full fledged advertisement from the US government
This is the "fat free" advertising craze of the 2000s all over again

Froot Loops is finally following its nose — toward common sense. Thanks to the many parents who spoke out and pressured @KelloggsUS to remove harmful food dyes from its products. I urge more companies to step up and join the movement to Make America Healthy Again.

There is NO evidence that exchanging high fructose corn syrup sweetened cola for cane sugar sweetened cola will have ANY impact on human health. NONE. ZERO. @SecKennedy I invite you to produce ONE study demonstrating that substituting cane sugar for high fructose corn syrup improves health outcomes
We need to address the REAL issue that NO ONE in MAHA wants to touch:
The average calorie consumption in the US is 3540 kcal/day (FAO data) & the average physical activity is less than 20 min per day
THAT IS THE REAL ISSUE
