These half truths always trigger, so let's discuss the Good, The Bad, and The Ugly behind the algo and your content: First off, The Ugly: (no, not my picture, I mean the lazy engagement farms) Sure, we've all see slop go mega viral. This isn't because there is someone at 𝕏 saying: "yes, today we need a BILLION people to share with the world their lore using a poorly draw digital stick figure for a popping visual!" It's just that people love to share about themselves and sometimes things just catch fire Remember: survivorship bias. There are millions of similar "easy" posts that didn't ever seen the light of day, you just, by definition, didn't see them. Next, The Bad: Ok maybe not really Bad, but just not Really Good. Everyone wants their own content to go viral and many think they deserve it (e.g. my kettlebell content which I'm quite sure is being throttled). But we live in an attention economy where there is a battle for mindshare. Of course it's not going to be easy with so many people shouting into the void. This is the digital town square and there are over 500 million people in here. Finally, The Good: Fortunately cream rises to the top and every day I see some remarkable content which is the reason I come back here every day. As Steve Martin said "be so good they can't ignore you." My advice is to not spend too much time worrying about the algorithm and instead pour your energy into the things that you have expertise in and have a true passion for and share that with the world. Oh and find unicorn friends: not the ones that will say you are the best, but the ones that simultaneously have your back and also are not afraid to share with you constructive feedback. How else will you get better? Now get out there and post some bangers.
