Mamdani is a placeless elite who could have just as easily been raised in Paris, London, or Dubai. Him and his wife floated along semi-employed and supported by affluent parents in NYC until his skill doing TikToks and other social media performances landed him in Gracie Mansion. The ideological framing that he has invoked most routinely has been explicitly third worldist which should be of little surprise given his father is a Fanonite. Mamdani is an empty vessel and he’s one of a type of politician like Justin Trudeau who would probably have been better served in the entertainment industry working as an actor. Because Mamdani is an empty vessel whose star has taken off, all sorts of people are trying to blow their hot air into him. But there’s no indication that there’s actually anything there besides the vague resentments and menacing of a downwardly mobile elite who is best able to concretize their beliefs with third worldist rhetoric.
