GM 🎞️ Moments of the Unknown. 340 March 12th at 19:06 in Cape Town, South Africa
@mich_viljoen met me at the airport after a 16-hour flight to the last leg of the journey, on the final continent of Mother Africa. We drove right towards the water with her trusty pup to catch the orange glimpse of sunset. Michelle stood perfectly between the buildings where I can see a clear view of Lion's head mountain. I knew I was going to go there tomorrow with my dear friend Lindi, so I thought it could be a great idea to shoot the far out shot from the ground, so tomorrow we were at a different perspective right on top of the mountain! Michelle and I made portraits of each other. That's kinda what photographers do when they hang out. All three of us watched the clouds burn red and the crashing waves where the Atlantic ocean hugs the Indian ocean at the southern point of the Cape. The sun got quieter as it sunk into the sea and the runners stopped running and the street lamps illuminated the path. It was time to go as the shadows of the night emptied the park. I remember getting back to my room late after dinner with Michelle and settling in to rest and looked to the ceiling and thought to myself. I am back in Africa. Since 2019, I came back not only to heal, but to complete the journey that I set forth this entire year. On the final and seventh continent of Earth, Where some say humanity began in the cradle of life. We soon will discover the ancient traditions and our oldest known ancestor in the following weeks to come.. Little did I know then what was to come as each day was its own unknown. It's in hindsight that I can understand the moments I shared with others and framed with the Super-8 to express that person on that day. Time and Light, are the two most precious tools we have. As we live our time is limited to some odd years, and how we see light and bend it to our perception. What it will show us beyond how we can see the spectrum, but feel the heat of the sun's rays working on us. Invisible forces that allow us to see the world and measure it as we take each breath and step; A cause and effect.
